Morrison, IL -- Economic activity in the Whiteside Carroll Enterprise Zone (WCEZ) picked up in 2019, with 19 projects and an investment of $38.6 million, up from 2018’s 13 projects with an investment of $10.5 million. The 2019 projects are on track to create over 450 jobs in the Whiteside Carroll Enterprise Zone.  The Enterprise Zone is the region’s most effective local incentive, with $453.3 million invested in 488 projects, creating and retaining 8,526 jobs between 2000 and 2019.

The 2019 projects included a variety of size and type, including HALO Branded Solution’s $25 million expansion and a small retail expansion of $41,000.  According to Gary Camarano, WCEZ Administrator, “The Enterprise Zone is available to help all types of businesses - small to large, new or existing, home grown or a relocation, industrial or retail or commercial, and its proven itself to be a very effective incentive.”

Donkers Promoted; White and Ratchford Hired to Support Strategic Growth Initiatives

Greenville, SC -- Global Location Strategies Founding Principal Didi Caldwell has announced the addition of three senior executives to the company. Sarah White has been hired as Principal and Vice President of Site Selection. Susan Donkers has been promoted to Vice President of Strategic Development. Madison, WI -- The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) today released its list of Wisconsin’s biggest economic development deals of 2019. This calendar year, WEDC assisted 289 businesses and communities across 16 industries, totaling more than $250 million in awards.

The more than $1.2 billion in planned capital investments for the projects supported by WEDC this year are expected to create more than 3,165 jobs and retain almost 14,000 jobs across the state. Of these awardees, 31 have planned capital investment of more than $10 million.

WEDC’s 2019 awards consisted of 158 grants, 47 investor tax credit awards, 20 loans and 57 historic preservation or business tax credit awards.

Company to retain 150 jobs statewide, expand existing facility as 85th anniversary approaches

Crowley, LA -- Governor John Bel Edwards and Supreme Rice President and CEO Bobby Hanks announced a $20 million expansion of the rice mill’s facilities in Crowley, Louisiana. The project will secure the company’s position as a leading rice processor by adding 25,000 square feet of manufacturing space, bringing the facility to 75,000 square feet.

Supreme Rice is the largest rice-milling operation in Louisiana. With the expansion, the company will retain 150 employees across Louisiana, including 105 at the Crowley site. Louisiana Economic Development estimates the Crowley mill supports an additional 374 indirect jobs, for a total of more than 475 jobs in Acadiana and surrounding areas.

Electrical infrastructure firm to retain 120 jobs, consolidate multiple St. Tammany locations in new headquarters

Covington, LA -- Governor John Bel Edwards and Ampirical Solutions LLC President Matthew Saacks announced the company will build a 78,000-square-foot corporate headquarters near Covington, Louisiana, and consolidate its existing St. Tammany Parish locations into the new office building.

A national company specializing in electrical infrastructure engineering, design and construction management, Ampirical will create 400 new direct jobs over the next decade, with an average annual salary of more than $85,000, plus benefits. Ampirical will retain 120 existing jobs, with the project generating an estimated 350 construction jobs. Louisiana Economic Development estimates the project – which includes a $20 million capital investment – will result in 244 new indirect jobs, for a total of 644 new jobs in Southeast Louisiana.

“Ampirical is a great example of the private-sector business development we’re cultivating for a better, stronger Louisiana economy,” Gov. Edwards said. “Launched by entrepreneurs in post-Katrina Louisiana, Ampirical has developed a team of electrical engineers, 3D-design professionals, construction project managers and support staff who are building a company steeped in cutting-edge technology and service. We applaud the company’s decision to continuing growing its base here in St. Tammany Parish and Louisiana.”

$27 million investment will greatly expand production capacity for automotive supplier

Greenville, SC -- Pierburg US, LLC, a manufacturer of components for air supply and emission control, announced plans to expand its existing operations in Greenville County. The $27 million investment will create 95 new jobs.

Founded in 1996, Pierburg US, LLC’s 100,000-square-foot facility produces exhaust gas recirculation modules, bypass valves and components for electric throttle controls.

“We are very excited to add several new lines to our facility, some of them for parts to be produced in the USA for the first time. That means creating more local jobs and investing in people by training them and creating technologically advanced workforce,” said Pierburg North America President Stevan Zivanovic.

Valdosta, GA -- At their regularly scheduled monthly board meeting, the Valdosta Lowndes County Development Authority (VLCDA) Board of Directors voted and approved the development agreement that benefits the growth of a local existing industry.

Ace Electric, Inc. will expand their footprint in Valdosta-Lowndes County with additional capital investment and new jobs. Ace Electric, Inc. will build a new fabrication facility located in Westside Business Park to support their industrial and commercial customers.

The new facility will create 15 new jobs in Valdosta-Lowndes County, with an average wage of 18 to 20 dollars an hour. They will invest $5.5 million into the facility.

In St. Tammany Parish, $53 million project to result in over 1,000 new direct, indirect jobs

Covington, LA -- Governor John Bel Edwards and Medline Industries Inc. announced the company will build an 800,000-square-foot distribution center and create more than 460 new direct jobs in St. Tammany Parish, near Covington, with 170 new jobs created within two years of opening. The $53 million medical supply facility will be built on the north side of Interstate 12 at La. 21, and will replace a smaller Medline distribution center located between Covington and Goodbee.

With the project, Medline will retain 36 existing jobs while creating an additional 464 new direct jobs in the parish. The average annual salary of those Medline team members will be $37,400, plus benefits. Louisiana Economic Development estimates the project will result in an additional 611 new indirect jobs, for a total of more than 1,070 new jobs in Southeast Louisiana.

More than $4.2 million investment to create 669 jobs
 
Columbia, SC -- Global Lending Services LLC (GLS), an automotive lending company, announced plans to expand its current operations in Greenville County. The more than $4.2 million investment is expected to create 669 new jobs.
 
Founded in 2011, GLS provides consumer financing for the purchase of new and used vehicles at more than 12,000 automotive dealerships that service over 150,000 customers throughout the U.S. The company has developed state-of-the-art technology and analytics with the ability to approve more customers at competitive rates and provide automated decisions to customers and dealers in less than 20 seconds. GLS currently employees more than 550 employees in its Greenville, S.C. offices, along with an additional 200 employees nationwide.
 
Located at 1200 Brookfield Boulevard in Greenville, S.C., GLS' expansion will increase its footprint and capacity to accommodate growing sales. This expansion will enable GLS to double its operations in Greenville over the next five years to support customer growth and dealer demand.

Whitmer: Ford Motor Company investment in Michigan creating 3,000 jobs and extending state's leadership in design and production of autonomous and electric vehicles

Lansing, MI -- Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced a decision by Ford Motor Company to expand at two if its key facilities and establish a new vehicle modification center in southeast Michigan, creating more than 3,000 well-paying and skilled trades jobs for Michigan workers.

With support approved by the Michigan Strategic Fund, Ford is investing approximately $750 million and adding 2,700 new direct jobs at its manufacturing facility in Wayne, Mich. during the next three years. Ford will install new equipment to support production of the all-new Ford Bronco and Ford Ranger, as well as create a new vehicle modification center at that location where Ford’s first autonomous vehicles will be completed starting in 2021.
