Up to 300 Customer Experience Positions Will Be Housed on Riomar Drive

Brevard County, FL -- TeleTech, a leading global provider of customer experience, engagement and growth solutions that employs 500 in Melbourne, plans to expand its workforce at a site in Rockledge by up to 300 customer experience positions.

“We are very excited to be expanding our customer experience team in Brevard County. The opportunity to have additional full-time and seasonal employees will help us respond to the needs of our clients and future clients more efficiently,” said Kimberly Johnson, vice president of Operations at TeleTech.

TeleTech is looking for Customer Service and Sales Representatives and Licensed Healthcare Insurance Sales Agents. TeleTech will cover the cost of the licensing training and exam fees for prequalified applicants interested to participate in their Healthcare Insurance Career Development Program to become licensed in this growing field.

Company will add up to 75 employees and invest $10.5 million
Marmaduke, AR -- American Railcar Industries, Inc. (ARI or the Company), a leading North American designer and manufacturer of hopper and tank railcars,  provided further details regarding its project to enhance its  tank railcar manufacturing facility in Marmaduke, Arkansas (Greene County). As part of the expansion, the Company will invest $10.5 million in buildings and equipment and expects to hire up to 75 new full-time employees.

The expansion will allow ARI to retrofit tank railcars to meet stricter safety standards imposed by the final regulations related to tank railcars in flammable service released by the United States and Canada earlier this year.

Jeff Hollister, President and CEO of ARI, commented, “Our strong team of employees at our Marmaduke facility, as well as all of our facilities, continue to support the success of our business. The capital invested in our Marmaduke facility will serve to further diversify our business to meet current and anticipated demand for retrofits, tank certifications and railcar maintenance, while also providing additional flexibility for our new tank railcar production.”

Columbia, SC -- Sea Pro Boats, a renowned brand in the boating industry, is returning to the market with ‘The Next Wave’ – an all new line of bay boats and center console offshore fishing boats. The company is investing $5.5 million in a new Newberry County manufacturing facility, generating 238 new jobs in Whitmire, S.C.
Originally founded in 1987, Sea Pro Boats, a Midlands-based company, was purchased by Brunswick Corporation in 2005. Recently, Jimmy Hancock, one of the original owners of Sea Pro, along with Tidewater Boats’ founder Preston Wrenn, decided to relaunch the company, planning an all-new incarnation of the Sea Pro brand – ‘The Next Wave.’ The line will feature seven new models, which are expected to be introduced by the end of this summer.
Sea Pro’s new Newberry County facility, a 200,000-square-foot building to be located at 25214 Highway 121 in Whitmire, will house the company’s headquarters, as well as its manufacturing operations.

51 economic development officers from across the U.S. will be attending and will directly engage senior White House and Administration officials.

New inland terminal to open in 2018

Service area includes North Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky

Chatsworth, GA -- Governor Nathan Deal, the Georgia Ports Authority, Murray County and CSX Transportation signed a Memorandum of Agreement today, establishing the Appalachian Regional Port in Chatsworth, Ga. Its service area will include North Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and parts of Kentucky.
"This new inland terminal will open the door for economic opportunity and job creation for Northwest Georgia and the region," said Gov. Deal. "By providing a direct link to the Port of Savannah, the Appalachian Regional Port will create and expand international markets for businesses, and further the economic success of the Southeastern U.S."
Murray County Commissioner Brittany Pittman said the inland terminal is also a big win for economic development in her area.

GPA achieves record TEUs, tonnage, rail and Ro/Ro in FY15

Savannah, GA -- The Georgia Ports Authority moved a record 3.66 million twenty-foot equivalent container units in Fiscal Year 2015, an increase of more than half a million TEUs.
"The deepwater ports of Savannah and Brunswick are cornerstones of Georgia's success, and major factors in creating new jobs and prosperity across the state," said Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal. "The wave of economic impact created by our logistics network supports virtually every industry, from manufacturing and agriculture to mining, distribution, technology and transportation."
Strong performances across business sectors also led to records in total tonnage and roll-on/roll-off cargo in the year ending June 30.

Las Cruces and State reach out to Taiwan for new business

A combined City of Las Cruces and State of New Mexico trade mission recently returned from a location promotion tour in Taiwan, and they have identified some promising prospects for New Mexico and the Las Cruces.  The four person trade delegation was led by Lieutenant Governor John Sanchez and City of Las Cruces Economic Development Coordinator Gary Camarano. The delegates traveled to Taiwan on June 20, 2015, and spent a week meeting with Taiwanese businesses, trade organizations and government officials to discuss opportunities for investment in New Mexico and the Las Cruces region, to build awareness of New Mexico and Las Cruces, and to explore export and import opportunities for the business community.

The New Mexico/Las Cruces “Trade Mission Taiwan 2015” was organized by Gary Camarano, the City Economic Development Coordinator. Camarano explained, “A lot of what makes Las Cruces an ideal spot for doing business starts at the State level, and the Martinez administration has been very active in improving the overall business environment of the State. Through tax and regulatory reforms, the State has been recognized in 2014 as the ‘#1 State for Manufacturing in the West’. This is something that businesses find attractive and we need to showcase. The Taiwanese were very responsive to information like this.”

Victory Tour to Take Place at Legion Field

Birmingham, AL -- The Alabama Sports Foundation announced that Birmingham, Ala., has been selected to host the fourth match of the United States women’s national soccer team’s 10-city victory tour that will take place this fall. The newly-crowned 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup champions will be battling it out with the Australian women’s national soccer team at the historic Legion Field on Sunday, September 20 at 1:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2.

The USA and Australia met in the opening Group D game of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, a 3-1 U.S. victory on two goals from Megan Rapinoe and a game-winner from Christen Press that kick-started the USA’s run to the championship.

“Birmingham has a strong history with U.S. soccer, as it has served as a host for multiple friendly competitions and a men's World Cup qualifier,” stated Gene Hallman, CEO of Bruno Event Team and Executive Director of the Alabama Sports Foundation. “This event will reinforce Birmingham’s reputation as being a superior host to a wide variety of sporting events and we couldn’t be more excited to once again bring history to Birmingham.”

Valdosta, GA -- The Valdosta-Lowndes County Development Authority (VLCDA) continues to see the growth of Valdosta-Lowndes County businesses with expansion of existing companies driving both investment and job growth resulting in $27.25 combined capital investment and 95 direct new jobs.

Robin Hood Timber and Landscaping Products Inc. an agribusiness company with a full assortment of commodity soil, bark and cypress mulch, will expand its landscape product manufacturing operations in Lowndes County, creating more than 50 new jobs over the next few years. The production facility located at what previously was ABS Greenworld was purchased to support the company’s growing marketing and sales base in the Southeast, North Florida as well as several Northern states.

Ring Container Technologies the industry leader in the design and production of lightweight, high performance PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) and HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) containers invested $10,000,000 to install new automated equipment in 2015. Ring Container Technologies is one of the largest plastic container manufactures in North America and focuses on finding sustainable solutions for the consumer packaging industry.

ARCA Space Lands in Las Cruces, New Mexico

Las Cruces, NM -- ARCA Space Corp., a manufacturer of unmanned aerial vehicle systems (UAVS), announced it will locate its headquarters and U.S. production facility at Las Cruces International Airport. In a joint announcement held at Las Cruces International Airport today, New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez and Las Cruces Mayor Ken Miyagishima welcomed ARCA Space Corp. to Las Cruces and reiterated that New Mexico and Las Cruces are open for business, and that aerospace will be an industry slated for further attraction efforts.

ARCA Space was founded in 1999 as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Romania by Dumitru Popescu and other aeronautics experts. Since then, ARCA launched two stratospheric rockets, four large scale stratospheric balloons - including a cluster balloon, was awarded two governmental contracts with the Romanian government, and one contract with the European Space Agency. In October 2014, ARCA established itself as a for-profit, U.S. company and began researching suitable facilities in Las Cruces for its UAVS manufacturing.

The Eastern Iowa Industrial Center, a 185 acre site in the Quad Cities, has been designated a certified site through the Iowa Certified Site program. “We’re prepared to respond in a moment’s notice to prospective companies seeking development ready sites,” says Paul Rumler, Chief Economic Development Officer, Quad Cities First. “Our goal in the Quad Cities is to offer businesses a competitive location where they can succeed. The Quad Cities is a prime location for logistics, warehousing and manufacturing firms, and this site is developed to suit those operations. Zoned light industrial in a campus-like industrial park, the Eastern Iowa Industrial Center is adjacent to I-80, will be rail served in late 2015, and is approximately 20 minutes from the Quad Cities International Airport.

Wisconsin’s presence at Institute of Food Technologists trade show in Chicago puts a spotlight on state’s leading role throughout the sector
Madison, WI -- More than 40 Wisconsin food and beverage companies and related organizations will showcase the state’s strength in the sector at IFT15, the international food industry expo taking place July 11-14 in Chicago.
Wisconsin’s food and beverage sector is responsible for $88 billion in economic activity and more than 89,000 jobs—a 58 percent greater employment concentration in this sector than the national average. The state ranks first in the nation in the production of a variety of foods, including cheese, cranberries, ginseng and snap peas. It ranks in the top five in the U.S. in the production of carrots, milk, potatoes, peas, oats, sweet corn, maple syrup and tart cherries.

GPA sets all-time container, total tonnage records in May

Savannah, GA -- The Georgia Ports Authority set all-time records for both container volumes and total tonnage in May with strong growth across several key business sectors.

"Strong performances at GPA's five deep water terminals, including bulk cargoes and containerized freight, contributed to the growth," said GPA Executive Director Curtis Foltz.

During his report at its June meeting, Foltz told GPA's Board of Directors that the Authority had moved more than 338,000 twenty foot equivalent unit containers (TEUs), a 16.4 percent increase, and 2.9 million tons of freight, a 9.6 percent jump.

U.S. Commerce Department selects Southern Idaho based on strength of the region’s extensive food manufacturing cluster and “All Things Food” brand, says the Southern Idaho Economic Development Organization.

Southern Idaho -- Idaho’s six-county region known as “The Magic Valley” has been selected as a top 12 U.S. manufacturing community by the U.S. Commerce Department’s Investing in Manufacturing Communities Partnership (IMCP) – one of four U.S. regions in the Food Manufacturing category.

“Both new and existing companies have taken notice that Idaho – and specifically the Magic Valley – is feeding the world, and we are now proud to have this official designation that truly puts Idaho on the map as a Manufacturing Community, capturing Idaho’s rich heritage of world class raw materials and a robust food processing workforce,” said Idaho Governor Butch Otter.

Las Cruces Area Goods Exports Increased 210.9 Percent to a Record High in 2014

Las Cruces, NM -- The U.S. Department of Commerce today released a report highlighting goods exports from U.S. metropolitan areas for 2014. The International Trade Administration’s 2014 Metropolitan Area Export Overview indicates that goods exports from the Las Cruces, N.M., metropolitan area totaled $1.3 billion last year, an increase of $913 million or 210.9 percent from 2013 to 2014. Las Cruces ranked # 1 in terms of percentage growth, and 134 out of 300 for total exports.

“More and more U.S. businesses are realizing that selling their world-class goods to the 96 percent of potential customers who live outside the United States is critical to their success,” said Stefan M. Selig, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade. “The Department of Commerce is committed to assisting companies throughout the Las Cruces metropolitan area compete globally by helping them begin or expand their exporting operations. These efforts are important to strengthening both the local and national economy, and creating well-paying jobs here at home.”

Nike Opens Its Largest Distribution Center Worldwide In Tennessee

Memphis, TN -- NIKE, Inc. announced the opening of the new North America Logistics Campus – Memphis (NALC-Memphis), its largest distribution center worldwide. Located in Memphis, Tenn., this state-of-the-art, 2.8 million square foot facility holds all three product lines – footwear, apparel and equipment – under one roof and distributes Nike and Jordan Brand products to individual consumers, wholesale customers and Nike’s own retail channels.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Allocates $1.303 Million in Federal Funding for Post-45 Harbor Deepening Project

Charleston, SC -- SC Ports Authority announced $1.303 million in federal funding for the Post-45 Harbor Deepening project, allowing the Preconstruction Engineering and Design (PED) Phase of the 52-foot deepening effort to begin. The announcement follows last week's US Army Corps of Engineers Civil Works Review Board (CWRB) approval to release the project's Final Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Impact Statement for final review, another critical step of federal approval for the SC Port Authority to provide the deepest harbor on the East Coast.

"The allocation of federal funding for the PED phase of our deepening project is tremendous," said SCPA Board Chairman Bill Stern. "We are grateful to the leadership of state and federal elected officials and the Obama Administration for their united support of Charleston's harbor deepening. The merit of our project and the significant benefits it will deliver for our state and nation are signified by the efforts of elected officials on all levels to ensure it progresses without delay."

New Broadband Networks Will Improve Access to High-Speed Internet in IBZs in Brooklyn and Queens, Helping to Facilitate Connections for Hundreds of Businesses in Underserved "Digital Deserts"
New York, NY -- New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) announced the launch of Connect IBZ: Broadband Expansion in Industrial Business Zones (Connect IBZ), a $5.3 million public-private partnership that will construct access to high-speed Internet in IBZs in New York City by expanding broadband infrastructure in these currently underserved areas. The program will create high-speed commercial broadband networks in the Southwest Brooklyn, Long Island City, North Brooklyn, and Greenpoint-Williamsburg IBZs, which are among the City’s “digital deserts.” Fast and reliable broadband access has become increasingly critical for businesses of all types in New York City and Connect IBZ will help increase access to broadband connectivity for hundreds of businesses. The networks in the four IBZs will be designed, constructed, maintained and operated by Stealth Communications Services LLC, and Xchange Telecom LLC, two New York City-based Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
"High-speed Internet is critical to the success of businesses in the 21st century economy, and it is imperative that we support Industrial Business Zones with the necessary infrastructure so that they can continue to provide quality jobs for New Yorkers," said NYCEDC Interim President Kim Vaccari. "Connect IBZ provides broadband access to underserved industrial businesses in Brooklyn and Queens, bringing increased opportunities to hundreds of businesses in former Digital Deserts."

Beginning this week, EIA is expanding its reporting of monthly natural gas production by 10 additional states. The addition of these states—Arkansas, California, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Utah, and West Virginia—significantly enhances EIA's monthly coverage, which was previously limited to Alaska, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Wyoming, and the federal Gulf of Mexico. Accompanying EIA's expanded coverage is a new webpage, Monthly Crude Oil and Natural Gas Production, which replaces the Monthly Natural Gas Gross Production Report.
