Neenah, WI, company adding 15 jobs and expanding site

Lakeville, MN -- Wisconsin-based corrugated display and packaging manufacturer Menasha Packaging will create 15 jobs and invest $7 million in an expansion of its operations in Lakeville.

The Neenah, Wis., company said it plans to add about 126,000 square feet at its Lakeville manufacturing facility in the Airlake Industrial Park, 8085 220th St. W., where the company has operated since 1969.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is assisting the company with the expansion by providing $422,520 from the Minnesota Job Creation Fund. Menasha Packaging will receive the funding once it has completed the expansion and added the jobs.

Announces $32 Million Expansion to Vineland, NJ Facility

Vineland, NJ -- Bridor Inc., a leader in manufacturing authentic European breads and Viennese pastry for the retail and foodservice industry, announced the expansion of its U.S. facility. The plant will continue to produce Bridor’s broad line of baguettes, breads and rolls that reflect the company’s 30 years of European heritage and baking mastery. It will now expand its laminated pastry dough and signature flaky croissant capacity. The enlarged facility will increase from 136 thousand square feet to 183 thousand square feet and its employee count will grow from 132 to 177 employees.

A global leader in automation industry establishes U.S. operation in Greer, targets growth in Americas
 
Greenville, SC -- ruhlamat America Inc., a designer and manufacturer of top tier customized automation equipment intent on accelerating its growth in North and South America, today announced that it will establish its U.S. operations in Greenville County.  The undisclosed investment is expected to add at least 35 new jobs over the next few years.

Newport News, VA -- Automotive supplier Continental plans to expand its operations in Newport News with a $150 million investment that is expected to create 500 new jobs.

Continental, which is based in Germany, plans to start turbocharger production in Newport News and increase production of its gasoline high-pressure injector, fuel rail and pump assembly lines.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe approved a $2 million grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to help Newport News with the project. In addition, McAuliffe approved a $4 million performance-based grant from the Virginia Investment Partnership program, which is available to existing Virginia companies.

Atchison, KS -- Inclusion Technologies LLC has selected Atchison as the location of its headquarters and manufacturing facility. Beginning in late summer 2014, the startup company will produce food ingredient products for the industrial market, including a line of nut-free ingredients and other customized products. Inclusion plans to hire 17 employees in Atchison during the next five years and continue capital investment in the facility.

“We are excited to locate our headquarters in Atchison and acquire the unique and proprietary assets of the former Anacon Foods Company, which we will modernize and reposition under our ownership and direction,” said Christopher Jansen, president of Inclusion Technologies. “The plant, processes and diverse product technologies offer our business a very strong platform to build a larger, more diversified inclusion business upon.”

Roland C. Mower has helped bring billions of dollars in business investment and supported the creation of thousands of Texas jobs
  
Port San Antonio, TX -- A business veteran who for more than 25 years has led efforts to attract and grow multi-million dollar industrial and advanced technology projects in Texas and elsewhere in the U.S. will be Port San Antonio’s next President and CEO.
 
Roland C. Mower will begin his new leadership role on September 29. He succeeds Bruce E. Miller, who has served in that role since 2002 and announced his retirement last January.

Company seeking cures for muscular dystrophies and metastatic cancers to locate at Greenville Health System’s ITOR facility
 
Greenville, SC --  Mannan Pharmaceuticals LLC, an organization dedicated to developing and delivering effective pharmaceutical solutions to various muscular dystrophies and metastatic cancers, will establish operations at the Institute for Translational Oncology Research (ITOR) of Greenville Health System (GHS) in Greenville County. Mannan plans to expand its research and development team to create up to 34 new positions over the next several years.

Company to invest $130 million, create more than 35 direct jobs
 
Pine Bluff, AR -- Highland Pellets LLC, an Arkansas company, today announced the building of a 500,000 metric ton per year wood pellet facility in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The $130 million plant will create more than 35 direct jobs and an additional 482 indirect jobs with a direct financial impact of $86 million annually that will benefit local communities.

Highland Pellets is a privately held company with industry veterans from the wood pellet, finance, and energy markets. Wood pellets are a sustainably sourced feedstock for use by European industrial utilities to lower their carbon footprint and provide sustainable base load power.

Arizona-based company’s eighth location and first glass manufacturing site in the South will include $4 million capital investment

Baton Rouge, LA -- Gov. Bobby Jindal and Glaz-Tech Industries President Pete Fazlollah announced Glaz-Tech will make a $4 million capital investment and create 50 new direct jobs in Baton Rouge with the establishment of a new glass manufacturing facility. The project’s direct jobs will provide an average salary of $34,000 per year, plus benefits, and Louisiana Economic Development estimates the project will result in an additional 97 new indirect jobs, for a total of more than 140 new jobs in the Capital Region.

Headquartered in Tucson, Arizona, Glaz-Tech Industries began operations in 1990 and has expanded with additional locations in Phoenix; Denver; Salt Lake City; Albuquerque, New Mexico; El Paso, Texas; and Boise, Idaho. The Baton Rouge location will be the company’s eighth site and will be located near the junction of Choctaw and Sherwood Forest drives. The facility will manufacture and distribute glass products across a 400-mile radius along the Gulf Coast.

Transformational Technology and Cyber Research Center at LSU is expected to secure $30 million in federal research contracts in first three years of operation through federal and commercial partnerships

Baton Rouge, LA -- Gov. Bobby Jindal and LSU President and Chancellor F. King Alexander announced the creation of the LSU Transformational Technology and Cyber Research Center, which will pursue major federal and commercial research projects in applied technology fields. Initially, the TTCRC will be funded in part by the State of Louisiana and LSU in a challenge grant configuration that provides $1 in state funding and $0.50 in LSU funding for each $10 in research funds the center attracts over the next three years. 

Ultimately, the TTCRC will target raising $34.5 million over its initial three years, with $30 million coming from external federal and private sources and the remainder coming from the State of Louisiana ($3 million) and LSU ($1.5 million). Creation of the center, which will collaborate with the Stephenson Disaster Management Institute and other LSU research entities, is subject to a vote by the LSU Board of Supervisors.

New project to upgrade paper mill and retain 1,340 jobs in Louisiana

Baton Rouge, LA -- Gov. Bobby Jindal and Graphic Packaging International Inc. announced a $41.5 million investment in the company’s paper mill in West Monroe to upgrade production machinery. Graphic Packaging International’s West Monroe paper mill produces paperboard for use in beverage and other consumer-based packaging at two other company sites in West Monroe. Graphic Packaging will retain 1,340 employees at the three Louisiana sites with the modernization project.

Gov. Jindal said, “Graphic Packaging International’s new investment in West Monroe represents not only its success, but the faith and confidence it has in Louisiana’s best-in-the-nation business climate. This investment in the facility and in our state positions Graphic Packaging International as a leader in its field, and ensures the continued presence of great jobs for Louisiana families.”

National Specialty Retailer of Apparel for Women, Tween Girls and Boys Officially Opens 880,000 SF National Distribution Center and Shared Services Office Complex

Etna, OH -- Ascena Retail Group Inc. (NASDAQ:ASNA), a family of leading retail brands, held a ribbon cutting on August 14, 2014 to celebrate their new 880,000 SF national shared services office and national distribution center complex at 200 Heritage Drive in Pataskala, Ohio.

The 120,000 square feet of office space will accommodate Ascena’s Shared Services Associates who serve all five of Ascena’s retail brands - Lane Bryant, Justice, maurices, dressbarn and Catherines - in areas such as information technology, sourcing and centralized procurement. Additionally, the 760,000 SF distribution center will serve all of Ascena’s retail brands, transitioning the final brand in early fall. The facility will be home to 850 associates.

Metal fabricator Mayville Engineering Company Inc. (MEC) will open a new manufacturing facility in Smyth County, creating 160 jobs.

The company will spend $10 million to open the manufacturing facility in a former Marillat plant in Atkins. MEC operates another manufacturing facility in nearby Wytheville, which employs 83 workers.

Del Rio, TX --  Amistad Industrial Developers and Gentherm, formerly known as W.E.T. Automotive, a leader in thermal technology in the automobile industry recently hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at their second location in Acuna, Coahuila.  This 101,000 sq. ft. facility will manufacture heating and cooling control modules for their global clients, including Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes Benz, BMW and Toyota.

Wall Breaking Ceremony Marks Start of Hangar Renovation

Midland, TX -- At 10am this morning, just feet from the runway which will rocket XCOR® Lynx® customers to space and back, Midland Development Corporation and XCOR Aerospace® invited local officials, contractors, Midland residents and local press to attend the kickoff of new renovations on the XCOR hangar with a ceremonial wall breaking inside of XCOR’s Commercial Spaceflight Research and Development Center Headquarters at Midland International Airport (MAF).

The start of hangar construction brought to mind prior eras of exploration for XCOR Chief Executive Officer Jeff Greason. “Midland stands at the heart of the American frontier,” Greason noted, “It is a symbol of the American West. Automotive systems manufacturer to invest $25.5 million, create 230 new jobs 

Gallatin, TN -- Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty, along with ABC Group Inc. officials, announced today the company will add an additional 180,000 square feet to its existing Gallatin facility in response to increased demand for automotive related products. ABC Group will invest $25.5 million in land, infrastructure and equipment and create 230 new jobs over the next five years in Sumner County. 

“We are thankful for ABC Group’s decision to expand its operations in Gallatin and for the more than 200 jobs the company is creating in Sumner County,” Haslam said. “Existing industry expansions, along with Tennessee’s strong automotive manufacturing base, help support our goal of becoming the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high-quality jobs.”

Toronto, Ontario — Del Monte Fresh Produce N.A. Inc. is opening its first Canadian processing plant in Oshawa, Ontario.  As part of construction, Del Monte is installing a new wastewater treatment system, System HydroKleen™, ALTECH Technology System’s innovative Membrane Bioreactor (MBR).

System HydroKleen™ is designed to treat 40,000 gallons per day of wastewater from the fresh cut processing of 100,000 lbs. per week of fruits and vegetables.  This MBR will treat regulated sewer discharge contaminants to below Region of Durham sewer bylaw limits, eliminating sewer surcharge penalties.

Savannah, GA -- The Georgia Ports Authority moved more than 29 million tons of cargo, 3 million twenty-foot equivalent container units (TEUs) and more than 700,000 auto and machinery units in Fiscal Year 2014. 

“The board and staff of the Georgia Ports Authority are to be commended for their outstanding achievements this year,” said Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal. “Our ports’ success is a win for us all, and a direct result of Georgia’s commitment to the GPA and support for critical port infrastructure projects such as the harbor deepening and enhanced access to I-95 and I-16. Georgia’s deepwater terminals support jobs, investment and economic development in every county across the state.”

Moberly, MO -- Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation announced today that Mid-Am Building Supply plans to expand its manufacturing operations in Moberly. The project will include the construction of an additional 30,000 SF of distribution space to make room for a new state-of-the-art interior door finishing facility. The expansion will create 20 new FTE jobs at the facility with a total investment in building and equipment of nearly $3 million. 

“Mid-Am has been an important part of the Moberly business environment since its beginning here in Moberly in 1967”, said Mayor John Kimmons. “The company and its owners contribute a great deal to the community through their philanthropic efforts and those of their employees as well.” Kimmons added, “The (Moberly) City Council was unanimous in their support of this project and felt that is was critical to do whatever we could to support new investment by one of our own companies.”

Tupelo, MS -- One of the oldest companies in Tupelo is expanding and adding employees.

Philips Lighting announced a $2 million project today that will bring at least 50 jobs to the facility. The project also helps retain the 350 now employed there.

Philips is creating a major manufacturing hub at its 550,000-square foot Tupelo facility, which opened in 1947 as Day-Brite.

According to Philips, the project includes incorporating LED technology made at the company’s San Jose, Calif., facility into the Tupelo facility’s production line-up, which includes “state-of-the-art intelligent fixtures that automatically respond to their environment, adding to the technology’s already high level of energy efficiency.”

The company is adding 250 jobs to its Winter Haven facility which opened in 2010, a company spokeswoman said Thursday.

With nearly 300 employees, KPAQ exceeds initial employment projections at revitalized paper mill

St. Francisville, LA -- Today, Gov. Bobby Jindal and KPAQ Industries LLC President and CEO Bob Boschee highlighted the company’s growth and success in West Feliciana Parish since the company’s reopening of the paper mill in 2010. The company now employs 295 workers at the paper mill with an average salary of $64,000, plus benefits, eclipsing the initial hiring target of 233. Louisiana Economic Development estimates the project is resulting in 919 new indirect jobs, for a total of more than 1,200 jobs in the Capital Region and surrounding areas. To date, the company has invested more than $33 million in the mill facilities. Its total capital investment is expected to reach an estimated $38 million by the end of 2014.

Gov. Jindal said, “The success of KPAQ Industries here in St. Francisville truly is a testament to our state’s talented workforce and strong business climate. As a top economic driver in West Feliciana Parish, KPAQ is not only a leader in the paper and pulp industry, but a leader in the community as well. SL Tennessee has announced it will expand its presence in Tennessee’s Clinton/I-75 Industrial Park. The expansion will bring $80.5 million and 1,000 new jobs to Anderson County, which sits in the eastern part of the state.

This will be the fifth time the South Korean automotive parts manufacturer has expanded since locating in Clinton in 2001. In addition to the manufacturing facility expansion, the company will be consolidating its North American data infrastructure to the Clinton location.
